CULTURAL &  LITERARY ACHIEVEMENTS (2012-13)

Our College organised the Panjab University Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival (Zone-B) - 2012 from 15 October to 18 October in which 11 Girls colleges that fall under the same zone, participated. Our students brought glory to their Alma Mater by bagging the following positions in various competitions:

Our students won a total of 33 prizes including 11 first, 13 second and 9 third positions.

Our college won laurels at the 54th Panjab University Youth and Heritage Festival held at Goswami Ganesh Dutt Sanatan Dharam (GGDSD) College, Hariana, Hoshiarpur.

Moving ahead in the same direction, our team bagged the 1st Position in Lambi Heik at the State Level University Youth Festival organised by Punjab Sangeet Natak Akademi at Dashmesh Girls College of Education, Badal (Sri Muktsar Sahib).

At the Inter-College competition held at Swami Gangagiri Janta Girls College, Raikot, the following positions were captured by our girls:

» 1st in Quiz Competiton (Varinder Kaur, Navroop Kaur, Rashpal Kaur)
» 3rd in Poster Making-Pawandeep Kaur
» 3rd in Idiomatic Conversation-Team of Gurmeet Kaur and Gurvinder Kaur
» Trophy for best overall performance

At Inter-College competition held at Khalsa College Sidhwan Khurd, we won the following prizes:
» 1st in Pakhi Making-Parminder Kaur
» 1st in File Decoration Competition-Arvinder Kaur
» 2nd in File Decoration Competition-Harpreet Kaur
» 2nd in Pot Painting-Daljit Kaur
» 3rd in Pot Painting-Nazma Khatoon

Jaspreet Kaur secured 3rd Position in Major Shivdev Singh Memorial Poem Recitation Competion.

Our College Team stood 3rd in Sardar Mohinder Singh Sidhwan Shabad Singing Competition and Mandeep Kaur bagged the 2nd position in the same.

Our Shabad Singing Team showcased its talent and stood 1st in Sardar Bakhtawar Singh Gill Memorial Inter-College Singing Competition organised by Guru Hargobind Khalsa College, Gursar Sudhar, Ludhiana. It was awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 2,100 and the coveted Trophy was attained by the college. Gurjit Kaur won the 1st Prize in the same competition.

District level Slogan Writing Competition was organised by Punjab Legal Services Authority and Department of Higher Education, Government of Punjab. Arvinder Kaur won the 3rd Position in Slogan Writing while Pawandeep Kaur was adjudged 3rd in Poster Making.

Prabhjot Kaur stood 3rd in Photography Competition organised by Singh Sabha Gurdwara, Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana. Besides Sarabjit Kaur stood 3rd in Painting Competition, Pawandeep Kaur secured 3rd Prize in Poster Making and Prabhjot Kaur was awarded a Consolation Prize.

An Inter-College Song/ Ghazal Singing Competition was organised by Punjab Sahitya Akademi, Ludhiana wherein Gurjeet Kaur received a Consolation prize.

1st prize was bestowed upon Nazma Khatoon and Sunaina in the categories of Pot Painting and Rangoli Making respectively. Daljeet Kaur won the 3rd Prize in Still Life and a Consolation Prize was given to Rajvir Kaur in Collage Making at the Inter-college competitions held at Government College for Girls, Ludhiana.

Array of Inter-College competitions were held at Khalsa Institute of Management and Technology, Civil Lines, Ludhiana in a festival titled 'Radiance 2013' wherein our student, Pardeep Kaur, shone by winning the 2nd Prize in Poster Making.

Jyoti Bala won the 1st Prize in Phulkari Making in Inter-Varsity Youth Festival organised by the Dept. of Youth Servies, Punjab, held on 19 March at Shivalik Pulbic School, Phase-6, Mohali.

The Paintings of two students, Richa and Amritpal of M. A. Fine Arts (Sem. IV) were selected for display in an exhibition by ARS group at Artmosphere Gallery, Ldh on 8 March 2013.

Mandeep Kaur won the title 'Sur Sartaj' at the Jallandhar Doordarshan organised Reality Show in April 2013.

HANDBALL
  » The Handball Team of the college garnered glory by clinching a Gold Medal in P.U. Inter-College competitions.

» A Gold Medal was secured by the college Handball Team at the Ludhiana District Handball Championship.

» Nine ace players, Gurmeet Kaur, Gurpreet Kaur, Jyoti Banga, Prabhroop Kaur, Mandeep Kaur, Harvinder Kaur, Kirandeep Kaur, Avtar Kaur and Rekha Rani represented Ludhiana at the Inter-Regional Handball Championship organised at Amritsar and bagged a Gold Medal.

» Nine Handball players of our college, Harvinder Kaur, Gurmeet Kaur, Rekha Rani, Jyoti Banga, Gurpreet Kaur, Mandeep Kaur, Kiranpreet Kaur, Avtar Kaur and Manjeet Kaur represented Panjab University at the All India Inter-Varsity Handball Championship, Meerut.

» Three college sports girls, Gurmeet Kaur, Gurpreet Kaur and Harvinder Kaur were selected for Senior National Handball Championship Camp held at Patiala.

» Harvinder Kaur and Gurmeet Kaur represented Punjab at Senior National Handball Championship organised at Nalour (Andhra Pradesh) and won a Silver Medal.
 
 
SOFTBALL
  » The Softball Team made the college proud by bagging a Gold Medal at the Senior State Softball Championship.

» Kulbir Kaur and Renu Bala represented Punjab in North Zone Softball Championship held in Himachal and won a Gold Medal.

» Our sports jocks, Amritpreet Kaur and Akwinder Kaur represented Punjab in Senior National Softball Championship held at Bhubneshwar and seized a Silver Medal.

» A Silver Medal was also bagged by Amritpreet Kaur and Renu Bala who represented Panjab University at the All India Inter-Varsity Softball Championship held at Indore.

» Our Team got a Bronze Medal at the Ludhiana District Softball Championship held at Ludhiana.

» The sports stars of the college, Amritpreet Kaur, Rajwinder Kaur and Shehnaz represented Punjab state at the Fourth Inter-Zonal Softball National Championship organised by Softball Association of Andhra Pradesh at Anantpur and walked away with a Silver Medal.
 
 
BASEBALL
  » College Baseball Team emerged victorious by winning the Gold Medal at Panjab University Baseball Championship organised by Panjab University, Chandigarh.

» Manisha and Amritpreet Kaur represented Panjab University at All India Inter-Varsity Baseball Championship, Delhi and the Team successfully scooped a Silver Medal.

» Our team again bagged a Silver Medal in Ludhiana District Baseball Championship held at Ludhiana.

  » At the Panjab University Inter-College Judo Champion-ship, under 48 kg category, Mamta Rani seized a Bronze Medal.
 
 
TAEKWANDO
  » In the Junior Category of Punjab State Taekwando Championship held at P.A.P. Jalandhar, Amanpreet Kaur netted a Silver Medal while Tulika Verma won a Bronze Medal in the Senior Category.

» A Silver Medal was clinched by Mamta Rani, Sandeep Kaur and Jyoti Rani, whereas a Bronze medal was collected by Kirandeep Kaur, Kamaljeet Kaur, Neetu Rani and Sunita Rani in the Laxmi Cup Taekwando Championship held at Dugri, Ludhiana.

» At Inter-College Taekwando Championship, under 48 category, held at Panjab University, Chandigarh, Mamta Rani secured a Bronze Medal.
 
 
CYCLING
  » P.A.U. Ludhiana organised Punjab University Inter-College Cycling Championship where Rajinder Kaur emerged a conquistador by bagging Gold in Individual Pursuit, Time Trial and 500 mts. She was also adjudged the 'Best Cyclist' and the college cycling team brought glory home by winning the Overall Championship.

» Harjinder Kaur and Anjana participated in All India Inter-Varsity Cycling Championship held in Kerala.
