» Welcome to RAMGARHIA GIRLS COLLEGE
 

Ramgarhia Girls College, Miller Ganj,Ludhiana is a multifaculty, Post Graduate Institute located in the heart of the Manchester of India. Founded by a great philanthropist, Late Baba Gurmukh Singh, the college was established in 1970 on the occasion of quincentenary celebrations of the birth of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Striving for excellence since its inception, the college has been on the forefront of women’s education under the able stewardship of Giani Bhagat Singh Ji and S.Jagat Singh, and is presently being efficiently run under the patronage of S. Ranjodh Singh President and S. Jagtar Singh Secretary, Ramgarhia Educational Council, Miller Ganj, Ludhiana. The college made great progress during the tenure of Principal (Mrs) Harmit Kaur who dedicated 25 years to the growth of the institution before she retired in 2008.

The college is located on the G.T.Road and is spread over 3 acres of land. It has a magnificent building with big, airy lecture rooms, state of the art Computer and Home Science Labs, Fine Arts Studios, well equipped computerized library, multipurpose hall, a canteen along with mess, girls hostel, lush green lawns and a vast playground. The college has 72 faculty members, 22 non teaching members and over 1600 students on its rolls at present.

The college provides equal opportunities of higher education to all students, irrespective of economic or social background. Students hailing from the economically weaker section are provided with guidance to avail government scholarships, and helped financially through the Students Aid Fund which is raised by donations from generous industrialists and organizations. Students are encouraged to participate in sports and co-curricular activities to promote all-round development. Education is imparted with a thrust on inculcation of moral and cultural values, to face the challenges of career and home. The college works for the promotion and preservation of the rich cultural traditions of Punjab, so that the future generations may proudly exhibit the grit and determination associated with the land of the five rivers.

The journey of R.E.C. started in a one room 'School' in 1942 as Ramgarhia Technical School. The vision and fore sightedness of Baba Gurmukh Singh  (Founder President) and his team  marked an era of establishment of schools and a college for the educational needs of the society. The Torch of knowledge was carried forward by Giani Bhagat Singh and S.Jagat Singh from 1979 to 2004. Currently the institutions are under the able stewardship of president S.Ranjodh Singh and secretary S. Jagtar Singh. All the members of the R.E.C. are actively involved in the endeavour to promote education in the city.
